When working in Germany, need work insurance?

I am an Australian with a 1 year Working holiday Visa, with a year of Travel insurance, now I have found a job -Do you need additional work German health insurance?

Be careful with the travel insurance as this may well change now that you are employed. I would read the fine print on the policy. Some of them will not cover you for bike or car accidents after a certain period, and quite often not at all.
Would pay to look around for an alternative health cover for you.

Ask your employer. They can give you the right information.

If you have a working visa for a year, you're OK for that year. But if you want to stay/work longer, you'll need proof of health insurance for the term of your visa (Aufenthaltstitel) -- which may or may not be provided by your employer. Travel insurance is not the best thing. Usually you need a policy from a German insurance company, even if not working. I had a one-year policy from Merkur when I was in Berlin.
