Hi,
I am a British expat currently in France but moving to Atlanta next summer, my question is; I have a 21 yar old son who wishes to join us for a year or two to study, as he is an adult A) is this possible B) what kind of permits or visa would he need and C) are they renewable depending on the length of his studies or are they limited?
Thanks in advance for any advice you have to offer

Your son would most likely need an F-1 (non-immigrant) student visa. He would need to attend university full time in order to maintain his status. He would be granted the visa for the length of his studies, and if he decides he wants to pursue graduate school he would need to reapply (I believe). He would have 60 days to leave the country once he completes his studies.
