American looking to move to Sweden

Post new topic

Nmuhammad

Hi,

I am an American teacher that has taught in a few countries. I am looking for a new location and thought Sweden might be nice. I have read a lot about the country and really feel it would be a great place to settle down for a while.
My question is how hard is it for an American to get a work permit or find a job in Sweden? Also, how hard is it to adapt to life there. I guess I should mention I am a black American.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Nmuhammad
You should try getting in touch with the consulate to ask about work permits and then ask them about contact with the Swedish employment exchange - Arbetsförmedling, to start looking for jobs because teachers  are always needed here. Of course it will depend on which subjects you teach, the curiculum might be quite different here but I think you should try, Sweden is very different from US but then all countries are different in all ways!
