Car Drivers beware

If you intend to visit Croatia or relocate with your car and are a Western European driver TAKE CARE people here are no where as competant as we are, Roundabout's are for playing with no recourse to accepted rules and regulations of the EU, driving outside a main city is like driving on roads made of potholes threaded together with 6 inches of tarmac, wrecks your cars suspension again out of a city good signposting is non existant, Plan well or have good SatNav. So to close GOOD LUCK.

Also to add to my last comments, How can a country joining the EU in 2013 allow NON legal drivers to own a motor vehicle and even worse insure said vehicle? this smells of intended law breaking, Also what country allows a national only to own a property but the embezilment of a spouse to pay for said property is acceptable. This country Croatia will never be in the 21 century before hell freezes over.
Banks that operate compleatly outside recognised international banking procedures, qoting 'the state controls the banks' sorry is this still a socialist country or what? Communisim has gone Tito is dead and Croatia is a "Democratic" country or supposed to be, not from where I am sat, even my wife, who is a Croat states Croatia is S***, I want to go back to England and never see this place again. Another £57,500 down the drain.

Dear Alan,
not sure what made you so negative about Croatia. For sure you can go back to England and when you arrive there, please try to find out why there is so many people from England visiting Croatia (Novalja, Pag, Dubrovnik, Split). There must be something that they do like. There is no any perfect country in this World!:)

Yes my friend, Visiting super, Residential here I think not, I have been for 2 years and the messing about I have had, well, My wife is a Croat and states 'This is no longer my Croatia, I want to go back to England' and I would recomend Visiting but not moving here if people wish to retain their mental health, sorry.

I'm afraid i must agree with Alan Clarke. I've been here since 2005 and its been hell all the way, corruption starts at the very bottom and winds its way to the very top. Ive been ripped off by my lawyer, real estate agent, landlord and even my neigbours in my building have an agenda! My wife is Croatian and a Professor of languages she has just had another pay cut while those above continue to live the good life. Visit, fine but to live a normal life is next to impossible.

Thank the lord I am not the only one, I was starting to feel paranoid.

Ha. This place has really sapped a lot from me in the past years. I now have full residency, an OIB, Osobna Kartice and i still have to take my passport to get MY money from MY account, everything is in my wifes name scooter, car and apartment. I sold my house a few months ago mainly because I couldnt put up with neighbours for various reasons. I really dont want to sound negative but all this is true. As im writing my neighbour has walked on to my terrace and shouted through the door to ask me if im sleeping, I kid you not!

I Understand, I do not go out now unless I really must, I will go out to drive back to UK soon now. You have been here for 7 year how have you Managed? Me 2year and I am a mental case the only thing that keeps me sane is our little dog, Why do Croat people not understand that in 2013 and the coming of the EU that this country may fall to bits Because the country is no where near ready certainly not the banks, the Zagrebacka does not operate within any international accepted rules, The 'state' will have nothing to do with banking when EU moves in, laws will have to change to comply with Brussels, and that applies to everything.

It's been hard, real hard. Trying to find a job is impossible, im an Electrical Engineer and no luck, had 3 months working in marina here...thats a story you wouldnt believe! Only other work I can get was for an Industrial cleaning company.
Tried to start businesses or at least get info about how... another story. If you dont have an uncle in an office forget it.
Ive been returning to the uk about once a year for 3 to 5 months working as a temp to get by. I would like to make a move too. When Croatia joins the EU I think they will be shocked at how many Europeans come here and take over everything because nothing can function here with these people in these positions. The thing is this country could be a paradise, it has everything it needs, it doesnt need the EU,just needs the right management in place and the right attitude to work!

Oh you poor thing I am retired now, used be a civil servant working as an intuctor with the MoD my proffesion was Aircraft Engineer, I spent much of my life contracting, I think the EU could be good for this country to get the right Management and work ethic in place 'cause it will not happen otherwise, we have just sold our flat to a couple of lads who are young businessmen who agree that this government wants draging by it's bootlaces into the 21st century but how long will that take? I say again socialisim is gone.

correct

well well well,.my wife too,.who is working as a teacher had her salary cut!!!for what reason????crisis!!!!looking at the facts where these politicians are buying and upgrading their cars for thousands and thousands of kunas?the rudeness of politics here is unacceptable!!!
