Living costs in Brussels

Post new topic

Hi,

We are considering a move to Brussels on a contract job. However would like some advice or guidance on cost of living, taxes, good points and bad points. There are three of us (2 adults and a toddler).

Thanks, Pete

Honestly - the taxes are very high. I don't know how much of it would apply to you as a foreigner but regardless you will have to pay quite a bit automatically - through salary.
As for housing- depending on what you're looking for, you can find a price that suits that need. I pay 400 for a studio in the very center, for example.

Hi ive just moved to Brussels from the UK, to work for a company in Brussels and the company I work for specialise in contractors and tax efficency, we offer a meeting were you can get your questions answered and what you can actually do. If you or any colleagues are interested, email me on here or at work as at my desk most days trying to find some sights, bars, things to do etc as I only got here on monday. tim.lawrenson@fundadvisers.com our offices are right off avenue louise

the louise area as well as etterbeek are crazy expensive. i'm surprised to see the rent prices are on par with chicago and ny at times. i'd advice you to look for a place maybe right outside of brussels

Hello nyben  -> Just to note that this thread is dated 2009 and is quite old. ;)

Thank you,
Aurélie
