Hello everyone,

As pathetic as the topic name sounds, the struggle is real. I have lived in Germany for nearly 5 years but it is very difficult to find English speaking friends.

My name is Petra and I was born in 1988 in Czech Republic. I moved to London in 2011 and lived there for nearly 4 years and then went traveling to Asia. I met my German husband (married last year) in Laos and relocated to Germany.

I am currently on maternity leave with my first child (5 months) and it would be great to find some outdoor enthusiastic people, best if they have time during the day during work week!

Welcome, Petra,

No, it's not pathetic at all. What are your interests? Are you just after meeting people for a coffee and a stroll in the park?

I love everything outdoors- so hike in Siebengebirge sounds definitely better to me than a stroll in a park but even that is possible ;).

Occasional coffee (tea for me, thanks) and nice conversation is also good idea.

Of course, in Germany, it is easier to find friends who speak German. After 5 years here, your language skills are expected to be up to that. If not, this is a chance to improve them!

Duh.. I do speak German, I do give courses in German too. That's not the point.

I do not enjoy the language, it tires me and I don't get all jokes and references in German which makes me feel like incredibly boring person. I do have some German friends but I am looking for friendship where I can interact in a language that is comfortable for me and enables me to relax.
