@abthree if you use your bank account it’s 30,000 dollars they have 3 different levels. You will need to send documents to get to this level number 3.

You might have mentioned that you will receive a commission from Remitly.

Remitly has been advertising in Canada for years. Nothing new here IMHO. Founded 2011 in Seattle. As Alan pointed out, his post contains a link where his $20 referral fee is derived from, if you sign up to this "new amazing super duper" service. I've reported the thread as spam.

Anyone tried this?  I use Wise.  I'm wondering what is the catch?

EDIT:  Nevermind, I found the "catch".

Remitly's fee is baked into the exchange rate.  It's not mid-market.  For example,

currently Wise exchange rate is 6.0565 and Remitly exchange rate is 5.9082.

I suppose you could do the math each time and decide which is better.  Personally,

I prefer the Wise model where you know you are getting the best exchange rate and

the fees are outlined separately.  I don't like it when I'm told there are no fees when

actually there are.

It’s called Remitly it’s a app. Two things it will transfer to a pix account and it very simple. They also have a 24 hour call to the US if you need help. I setup a account it got blocked and I didn’t know why. It because I have a mail service as a address. But I was able to get it fixed with a call just had the prove my accounts with a Bank statement and do a photo of my passport. They cleared my account but can’t send money now for 48 hours. But after that can send up to 30,000 a month. Here the link to check it out . If you have a pix account you can set you money that way to your bank.

I used Remitly all the time until I got my social security from USA directly deposited in BRL into my Santander account, which opened up availability to credit, in particular AAdvantage Black M/C, which they don't like to give out because even though they charge plenty, the bank complains how expensive it is to buy miles in dollars.  However, I prefer Remitly to Wise, although many people I know like that app.  One thing: Remitly automatically uses "Daycoal Bank" automatically as their 3rd party transfer agent.  I always call and have a representative on the phone and change the 3rd party transfer agent to "BANCO REDIMENTO" which, if you vary from your pattern (say you usually move $USD2,000/month, then one month you send USD$10,000) Banco Daycoval put me through answering a 7 double-sided page (in dense  Portuguese legalize) to fill out and prove I was legit.  Just my experience.  Now, I don't really need them as much, yet they took off all restrictions on the amount I can transfer.  No limits (I was a level 3, their highest level), but after 3+ years they say they will let me transfer any amount.  We'll see if and when that day comes.  I am not  high net worth individual, by the way.  So, basically a great service but be aware of the "3rd party transfer agent."  Scott

12/16/24 @rsrenfrew.  Banco Rendimento did that to me out of the blue with no changes to my transfer pattern.  It may have been part of a general pattern of tightening compliance right after the pandemic, but they couldn't be reached by phone or WhatsApp and insisted on two business days to respond to every email.  They're why I stopped using Wise.
