New members of the Brazil forum, introduce yourselves here - 2019

GuestPoster543

Hello  :) . My name is Glaucia. I'm a Brazilian living near Atlanta, USA for more than 20 years. I'm planning to move back to São Paulo with my Scottish husband in the next 2 years. First we need to find an apartment in Sao Paulo close to my family, and plan the move. I already had good help from this community in finding int'l moving companies. I also would like some help finding a good accounting firm, with solid experience and knowledge of the USA and the Brazilian laws and treaties.

Hi all, I will introduce myself. My name is Priscila and after 10 years leaving in Ireland I am moving to Bertioga (coast of SP) with my irish husband and 2 kids. We are very excited and looking forward to it. Not sure yet about jobs and school but we will figure it out!

New to the forum here - beginning my expat aspirations by learning Portuguese. I'm a drummer/producer currently living in Denton, TX - where I studied jazz drumset - and I work in the DFW freelance gig economy. Would be interested in any information/experienced expats that have worked in the music performance industries of Brazil, Sao Paulo specifically, what it would take to obtain an appropriate artist/work Visa and where to look first to get into the Brazilian gigging economy. All I have right now is an American passport, which I understand means I have a lot of work ahead of me. Thanks!

Howdy Joe.
From Houston here.
I would begin with the Brazil Consulate in Houston online.
First, cannot work in Brazil unless sponsored by a company. The company will need to have approval to hire someone that is not Brazilian. Do not know anything about music industry, but there are many Brazilian's doing such.
The other option is to begin the process of a Permanence Resident of Brazil, then apply for a work card. This process has to be done in Brazil with the Policia Federal. The Brazilian Consulate cannot grant such, but the can help with information you will need. Many of your documents will need to be translated and apostille, so you need to use a good company that can do this. Finial document will be an FBI background check and cannot be older than 90 days.
It is a lot of work and takes a lot of time. Harder if you do not speak Portuguese
Not sure why you chose Brazil?
There are many here and we can help, Good luck,
Tex.
