Ok, so I am a whiner with IT stuff.

bepmoht

What’s with the timezone settings on this site. For some reason we can’t change our timezone. So post times are always dorked up. Isn’t this 2024? Can’t the IT gurus in East Africa that run this site get this straightened out? I’m sure it’s possible.

@bepmoht, have you changed your timezone settings to Brazil time?  This is found under Account Settings...  I have just done that and I get everything in my local time zone....

However, it does not account for daylight savings....

Is that what you are looking for?

I’ve tried many times using my Safari browser on my iphone. It gives me the drop down menu with the different zones, but when I select my desired zone and click save, it doesn’t do anything. I’m stuck in the Casablanca time zone. Just out of curiosity, are you using an android phone and google browser or a PC to do the change? It could be a browser mismatch on my end. Thanks for the reply.

@bepmoht I can’t scroll to time zones on my iPhone. Works on Android.

I only use macs but avoid safari like the plague.  I actually use Tor browser and this cleans up all the cookies etc. when I exit.

I don't like cookies and other tracking artifacts - but this is not good for this web site ad revenues.

Good luck.

PS:  I don't use the mobile version of the app as there are too many security vulnerabilities in mobile apps.

I can edit my time zone on Windows/Chrome.

Thanks for the feedback.  Guess I’ll dust off my laptop and give it a whirl. These darn smartphones make me lazy. I can usually do 99% of what I need to on it.

Go figure.

@Pablo888

Thanks for the input. Ya, I tried using the Iphone Brave browser to change the time setting as well. NADA. I’ll give my android phone a try, if thats a negative I’ll dust off the laptop. Alan reports success with those devices.

@alan279

Android phone solved it. On the IPhone the little Blue check mark to confirm never displayed. On Android it was. Time zone settings troubles solved via the Expat braintrust!

KenAquarius

I am using an iPhone and l was able to use the blue check mark to set my timezone. It did take a couple of attempts to select it, but it did work

alan279

@KenAquarius Different screen sizes cause the problems?

bepmoht

@alan279

Could have been a zoom issue I guess. I have an Iphone 13 mini. Tiny screen,  perhaps zoomed in too much.  Anywho,,,  I’m good to go now. No longer in Casablanca with Bogie and Frenchy..

KenAquarius

@alan279 I have an iPhone (the larger model). As I said, it did take a couple of attempts to get it to work. I just checked it again and it's still showing EST (which is correct). I have to admit "Casablanca" does sound interesting. 1f600.svg

alan279

@KenAquarius I wonder what Casablanca is like today. Will an iPhone 13 Mini take me there? 😀

alan279

@bepmoht HTML is not really a good solution for mobile apps. I regularly use several apps that require scrolling up, down and around to see buttons off screen.

Websites are worse. After I dodge the cookie monsters, decline to subscribe (free or paid), decline notifications, and receive countless reminders and ads, I have forgotten what I was looking for.

All I wanted to do was pay my bill. Which requires countless more steps. 🙁

KenAquarius

@alan279 Play it again Sam......

alan279

It could be simple. Send me the bill via email, SMS or WhatsApp with the boleto number. I copy the boleto number and paste it into my bank app.

Paid.

Done.
