Does anyone have tips for finding an apartment for 3 months in Buenos Aires - and a good language teacher?

Hello Danielle,

I'd like to know what sort of place you are looking for. Is it a whole flat? if so, where would you like it? would a room in a shared flat be ok? or not? When do you intend to move in? Do you have any furniture? pets?

Thanks Christine and Guada! It's not until Aug/Sep but deciding based on cost whether to go to Spain or Argentina for classes depending on what is most practical. I'm happy to stay in a room or a small flat. I like to be able to walk around, so central to shops and cafes is great : ) best, danielle

I recommend LV Studio. That's where I studied and worked as an English Teacher. They have a homestay + intensive group course package deal.

Hello,

I am also considering a move to Buenos Aires this time next year, once I have finished my university degree with the purpose of improving my very basic Spanish skills.

I was hoping that someone could recommend me a couple of Spanish schools/ Universities that provide Spanish courses for foreigners within BA. I think initially I would prefer to be in a classroom setting with others just so that I can meet people and socialise etc rather than just with a private tutor. I've had a good look on the web but there's so much information it's overwhelming!

I am not at all familiar with BA so please excuse my ignorance but what are the the areas that student's tend to live in? Most likely I would want to share a flat with other students in an inner city area.

i just got home from my trip to buenos aires! it was great - an unforgettable experience.

i was there for 2 months and learnt spanish at expanish (www.expanish.com) which is a great school! i met so many nice people from all over the world and the school offers a lot of activities so it's never boring! i booked my accomodation also with expanish and lived with other spanish students in the city center! just check out the link that i posted... there are so many things that the school offers you!

if you want to rent a room in a shared house(possibly with locals) then check compartodepto.com/ its a great website with thousands of rooms to share in houses all over Bs As.......great for the budget traveler and it might help you on your spanish as well.

i suggest checking out Bueno, Entonces which is a cool spanish learning tool you can use to brush up on your skills before. once in BA i suggest either Expanish or Gisela Giunti for spanish classes.

Hey Katie,

I moved to Buenos Aires a couple of months ago and since then I have been learning Spanish in a great school in Palermo (which btw is also a very nice and stylish area). It is called DWS. What I really like is that it's not one of this mass-schools, but that you will find friends very easily. The atmosphere is familiar and the classes small and fun. Plus there is everyday an event you can join. (And: Compared to the other schools, they have really good prices... an aspect, that was also very important to me) Here is the link: danielawasser.com.ar

As to the Spanish classes, I reccommend you to check Verbum school (verbum.biz). They offer very good and affordable one-on-one lessons as well as group lessons.

I invite you to look at the apartments for temporary rent we offer, you might find the one that is right for you. Last year i remember having a costumr from Australia that worked in "this side up" project after all we became good frind, if yoiu want i can give you his e-mail so you can ask him for help

Hi there, not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but if so... my wife and I (from US) have been living in BsAs for ~3 months now taking 20-hour per week spanish classes for pretty much the whole time at a school in Palermo called Vamos spanish and continue to enjoy it. We also went through a lengthy process to find an apartment here and worked with several agencies before settling on a place through ApartmentsBA.com. I know the original post is a little old, but I want to offer a simple piece of advice for anyone with the same question. You need to reverse the questions. If you find a good language school, they can help you find lodging for three months that is inexpensive and good quality.

When one of my friends started planning his trip to Argentina to study Spanish and visit, I suggested that direction. He contacted the school I used, Ailola Buenos Aires, and they setup a class schedule and they helped him locate a furnished apartment that accepts short-term tenants. I would guess by the price that he got a good deal due to the referral.

There is another advantage to reversing the questions. By choosing the school first, you can make sure you choose a residence hall, hostel, or apartment near the school. You do not want to waste time traveling long distances to school. You would rather save that time for enjoying BA.
