Visa cancellation process in the UAE

Suhaimiz

Hi everyone, I need some advice about the UAE visa cancellation process.

I recently submitted my resignation and completed my clearance form, but the cancellation is taking quite a long time. It has already been around two weeks and my company HR says they are still processing the internal approvals before PRO can start the visa cancellation.

For those who have resigned in the UAE before:

How long did your visa cancellation take from the time you submitted your clearance?

Is it normal for the process to take 2–3 weeks?

Does the PRO normally require the company to complete every single internal approval before they can submit the cancellation?

Is there any way to speed up the process?

I’m asking because I need to leave the UAE urgently due to family commitments, and I am not sure whether this timeline is normal or if I should push the company to expedite.

Thanks in advance for any guidance or experience you can share.

I have already processed the cancellation visa since I am acting as the company’s PRO, and it only takes 2–3 days.

Yes, it’s quite common for visa cancellations in the UAE to take 2–3 weeks, especially if the company has internal approvals that need to be completed before the PRO can submit the cancellation. Typically, the PRO cannot proceed until all the company’s clearance and internal approvals are finalized.

If you need to leave urgently, I’d suggest following up politely with your HR and explaining your situation—they may be able to prioritize your clearance internally.

If you want, I can guide you on the steps to ensure your visa cancellation is completed faster.
