Question to Expats in UAE about the residency & Emirates ID

Isa Al

Hey,

I am moving soon to UAE to work and live, I want to apply for the residency and Emirates ID but in the application, they require the mother's and father's name, while on my passport I just have my first and last name, but I am just wondering do they require a proof for the father's and mother's name for the residency and Emirates ID?

As I don't live in the country of birth, and getting a birth certificate will take time with me so I want to be prepared with all the correct documents. I asked the immigration office and one person said yes, the other said just the info on the passport is enough. I asked some PRO services and they had mixed answers as well that's why I want to get answers from Expats in UAE who have been through the process.

Thanks and happy holidays!

The application has mother and father's name for your work visa but no proof is required.   The reason to have that listed correctly is that should you decide to apply for a visa for your parents, the names should match - at that stage, the proof would be needed but not necessarily a birth certificate.  I always used to get my mother visa by just showing her husband's name in the passport which matched my father's name in the passport.
