I not an expat, a native Turkish but lived in Konya for a long time. Konya known as a conservative middle Anatolian city. Has more than 2 milion population. You may love or hate Konya, it depends on your expectations. I think, there is a huge cultural difference between Canada and Konya. You may teach English with private lessons etc.

You can find many info in “Expats in Turkey” FB Group. I lived in Ankara with my family and have been to Konya. My personal experience “Konya” is bit dry.

Now we live in Dubai.

You can get a short term residence with an apartment rental contract ( you pay for the whole year upftont)

you need at least 2 bedrooms, make sure the building has a generator, elevator at a minimum.  the price per month vary by location and features (Between $300 to $700  Furnished )  you need at least $3500 to $4000 per month (private schools is included) for Hubby, You and your kids to have a great living.  it used to cost  $2500 per month.  but now everything is expensive.    There is no permannet residence here unless you had a short term residence for at least 8 years.   if you have money, purchase a home or an apartment only from a Turkish native person or a Turkish Builder (not from a Foreigner selling his home or apartment) that is worth $400,000 plus %4 tax  to qualify and get the Turkish citizenship within couple of months.       You can also purchase an apartment for $200,000 plus %4 tax and get a 2 year residence from a Turkish native person or a Turkish Builder (not from a Foreigner selling his home or apartment)  then you will qualify for a realestate owner residence for 2 years and renew every 2 years).   your kids need to go to private schools is better  you can also ask the immigration office if you can purchase $80,000 2 bed room apartment and get 2 year residence as itused to be. don't purchase unless they tell you yes.  if I was you , i rent and try out living in Turkey before you purchase an apartment.  you gonna love it here.  cheap, safe and % 95 nice people.

Make sure to have your kids school certified transcripts to get it reviewed and approved by the Turkish education ministry.

Make sure to ge the kids certified original birth certificates and have them apostilled.

Make sure to get your original Marriage certificate and have it apostilled.
