Careful though!  US iPhones are locked to AT&T and unlocking them CAN be done, but is a pain in the neck.  Try UK!

The price I have mentioned is of factory UNLOCKED one (Yes, they do sell that).

The AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon packagers are 5 times cheaper.

I know a store that sells unlocked iPhone 4s 16gb/32gb at a hundred or 2 hundred riyals cheaper than Mobily, STC, Jarir, Extra, etc. here in Riyadh, with a warranty of up to 1 year as well. PM me for details.

If you're not familiar with iPhones, NEVER attempt to buy it for a 'cheaper' price to save a couple hundred riyals. You will end up getting ripped off. It is after all one of the most sought after items in the market.

It's already cheap. The price is similar to, if not cheaper than most apple stores around the world. So margin of profit is very limited, thus anyone who claims to sell it for a drastically cheap price is 100% lying.

Tens of people get ripped off everyday on websites such as expatriates.com's classifieds section with ads about buying 1 iPhone and getting another for free, or something ridiculous like that. Don't fall for such ads.

Also, some people might sell you cheap knock-offs. If you don't know how an iPhone looks or functions, don't attempt to buy from individuals.

And lastly, some people sell iPhones that are imported from the U.S, which aren't meant to be sold without a telephone plan. These phones are locked, and cannot be used by other carriers around the world, unless jailbroken. If it's a jailbroken device, then it's only worth half of what an officially unlocked iPhone is worth. Don't get scammed. Lots of people make money importing and unlocking devices.

Only recently has apple started selling iPhone 4S's officially unlocked on their online American store. So not all imports from the U.S are locked. However, it's pretty hard to buy one online, as they only accept American credit cards, and they only ship to addresses within the U.S. They don't ship to forwarding companies.

Bottom line: If you just want to save money, you'll more than likely end up losing ten times more than you wanted to save. Be very careful.

One more note:

All iPhones, iPads, iPods, etc, are assembled in China. That's just a way to avoid saying they are made in China. However, it's safe to say that they make gadgets of the highest quality available in today's markets. In short, don't be tricked into thinking that genuine iPhones are made in the U.S, because they are not.

Original is best compared to what, the fake iPhones? There is no comparison. It's not like some Nokia devices where there are fake ones that work the same as the genuine ones. Fake iPhones are NOTHING like the real iPhone, and will never be, no matter how many Chinese companies try. iDevice Software is based on the hardware (the touch gestures, etc), and the hardware is also based on the software. And both require high grade parts. Also, the phone's software is not open source, so it's almost impossible to copy it into fake device. Don't forget the authentication that happens when you first use the device. It has to be connected to the internet.
