Hi,

Honestly speaking, 4,500 SAR in Riyadh for a married couple on single income is quite tight. It’s possible to survive, but it won’t be a very comfortable lifestyle. You’ll probably need to live in shared accommodation or outside central areas, keep groceries basic, and avoid eating out too much.

Just to give a rough idea: rent alone can easily take 1,500–2,500 SAR per month (even more in central Riyadh). Groceries for two usually come around 800–1,200 SAR. Utilities and internet can be another 300–500 SAR. After that, transport and daily expenses add up quickly. Saving money on this salary will be difficult unless your employer provides housing or other allowances.

For mechanical engineering in the oil field, there are still opportunities in Saudi, but with only 2 years of experience most offers tend to be entry level. Better packages usually come after 4–5 years experience or with specific certifications, so gaining more skills and experience will definitely help in the long run.

When I was planning my own budget here, I found it helpful to calculate monthly expenses in advance using simple online calculators — it gives a clearer picture of whether an offer makes sense for family life.

Hope this helps, and best of luck with your move.
