Coming to Oman in August - looking for support

My wife and I are leaving the adult kids and moving from London to Muscat mid August to work for a start-up. We need to find accommodation within a month, and furnish it. We are not planning on bringing much across.

Keen on outdoors, nature, walking.  Should I bring my gravel bike?

Practising Christians - so might look for a church  community.

Keen to learn new cultures.

All a bit daunting - so anyone who can reach out, will be much appreciated.

Hi Jeff,

Welcome to Muscat – exciting move!

For accommodation, I’d highly recommend looking into Madinat Al Sultan. It’s a great area, especially if you're practising your faith – there's a strong sense of community there, and you'll find several churches nearby.

A quick heads-up though: August in Muscat is intense. Temperatures can hit 50°C some days, so outdoor cycling might not be the best idea at first! If you do want a bike once you're settled, you can pick up a decent one from Nesto or Lulu Hypermarket for around 50–80 OMR – good quality for the price.

It’s all a bit overwhelming now, but you’ll settle in fast. Feel free to reach out if you need more tips – happy to help!

All the best,
