Coming to Muscat! At last !

congs,
how much time it takes to get visa, i means what is lag period between appearing interview and getting visa.
i have got offer letter of  mod,oman on month of april but still wait for visa.
thaks in advance for reply.

My visa took 2.5 months.
But one thing I must say, they did not communicate back in email in the interim period when i was worried about what happened to it.
I hope you will get your visa soon .

hi! i'm just curious... why oman? what made you decide to work there? i'm planning to work abroad and been contemplating whether to work in oman or in england.

Well over the posts I have followed Mr Sumitran has been a very valuable contributor and helper to everyone. Lots of nice suggestions and detailed explanations. I would rather take it as a slip of pen.
As for the answer of UK or Oman, I have been in UK for 3 years and with 2 kids beleive me you dont save much and I am talking about a monthly salary of 3500 pounds after tax for me.
So I hope Oman will let me save some money. Unless what I read in a post just now is true.

Money is not everything. This is what Oman has taught me. Believe me, the quality time you'll be spending with your family is much more worth than earning money.
This is the most peaceful country in the whole world for those people who value relationships more than the money.

i am well aware of the exchange rates it's just that i know very little of oman and i gave relatives in the UK saying cost of living there is way much better. i just wanted to gather as much insights from people who actually lived there

That's the reason why now a days in Muscat, every here and there, a brit is found...!!!

Great response Schaz! That's what I've been telling my husband but he won't listen. He said its easy for me to say that since I am not the one who would be responsible for bringing food on our table in this family of five.
When my husband was first offered a job there in Oman by a very reputable publishing company his visa was for family but we decided to let him go first to settle down and you know get familiar with the country and its culture or lifestyle. But now its been over a year and he signed another 2yrs contract with his company and I really want to join him there but he said he is under evaluation. Now my question is --- Is it hard to get a family joining visa there in Oman? If he applied for one, how long is the processing of the visa for his family? Does his company has the right to declined his request for family joining visa? He said he was under evaluation for not doing his job well or as expected, so what will happen to him if the company terminate him in the middle of contract? Will he also get compensated for the remaining months? I am so disappointed by how things turn out, at first I thought it would be our choice if we want to join him there or not but now it seems the future of this family to be whole again relies on the hand of his company. Please help.
