Visa Requirements for Oman

m-knowledge

Hi,

I am planning to move to Oman. I have a few friends in Oman who can get me a job. I just want to know what are the requirements.

I heard that if we are looking for a professional job/visa (managerial, executive, etc.) we would need to provide qualification? Will a Certificate level qualification from UK be approved? Or do we need to have something higher like Diploma etc.?

Will work experience in a Blue-chip company be possible?

Regards

Hi m-knowledge,

Well, the primary requisite for anyone to land a job is to first find a suitable employer who is seeking a candidate with some required skill-sets, to fill their needs.

A good educational background, and a good track-record of past accomplishments would of course go a long way in the employer selecting one candidate over another.

Once the employer is happy with their selection and decides to hire the services of the expatriate, then the rest of the process is pretty well laid out. Every expat has to go through the same process.

Most important is that the company intending to hire any expatriate must possess the needed labour clearance for that position. This involves the company meeting many set requirements stipulated by Oman's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Manpower, and the Royal Oman Police, to name a few.

If the company meets all the requirements and if the candidate's package details has been mutually agreed upon, then getting the employment visa issued will be just a matter of a week or so. Not more.

Inordinate delays happen when the company has not met some of the many requirements. Reading through the numerous others posts in the forum would throw more light on this subject.
