family Visa for spouse of professional working in Oman

Anupamagiri

Hi

My sister has got a job offer from  a reputed private company in Oman at a good salary, However company is refusing to give family visa to spouse. They said, as per law in Oman a female worker can not get family visa for husband, and they say this rule is applicable for private sector , only.

We feel, company is doing this to suit their needs, I will be grateful,  if  anybody can please share some information.

Best Regards

Hi Anupamagiri,

What your sister's employer has told her is absolutely and entirely correct.

In Oman, only the employed expatriate husband is entitled to sponsor his family of wife and kids. It cannot be done the other way round.

However, exceptions are there for certain categories and jobs. Unfortunately, it seems like your sister does not belong to that exempted group of expatriates.

Anupamagiri

Thank you very much for taking out time to answer , can you please share what are the exempt categories or if there is any public document talking about all this, please share the url. Will be grateful, if you can help.

Hi Anupamagiri,

There is no such published list containing the list of categories that are exempt from the rule. It is always decided on a case-to-case basis by the authorities. So the best person to get some authentic and latest information on this rule would be the concerned company PRO only.
