Weather in Kuwait

May through September: One of the hottest places on earth (reaches 50+ C)
October and November: The kind of weather that makes you feel like a tourist, not hot, not cold just right ... my favorite
December through March: Starts VERY cold with a few less colder days in between.
April: Again, heaven-on-earth weather.

This is a rough estimate ... climate could change but it has been like this lately.

Ohhh...weather in middle east is just the same regardless of what country (rg.Dubai, Kuwait, Wayar, Oman etc.) Is my understanding correct?

They are actually quite different. Dubai is more humid than Kuwait in the summer for example, so on and so forth. You might want to post your question (good question actually) in the other blogs and see what you'll get, then compare

kuwait is the least humid of all the Gulf countries; bahrain, qatar and UAE have a much more humid year than Kuwait. Kuwait however does experience all weather types during a single day; sun, dust, heat, cold, u name it, we mix it.

One more thing though, I believe most establishments there are air conditioned    Meaning, you can only feel extreme heat when you're outdoor esp. during May - September which justfedup mentioned to be  "one of the hottest places on earth" .. but when you are indoor I suppose there's nothing to worry... 

@Avahlee: Not most ... ALL! Establishments, buildings, cars, buses even police boxes on traffic lights are air conditioned. In general you don't have to worry about the temperature until:
1- Electricity goes off (doesn't happen often). That's when every one goes like .... CRAP!!!
2- You get in a car which was parked without a shade. You'll really know what "Blood boiling" means.

Sometimes when electricity goes off (which doesn't usually happen) even taking off our shirts wouldn't help cool us off. So if you haven't been to an extremely hot place before, pack up cotton clothes .. you'll need them.

Very helpful.. I will.  I'm about to accept the offer. Anyway, I'm not that extravagant so I think I can still save up since accommodation, transportation and meal during work days will be provided by the company.

By the way, how much is the cost of a shared flat there? Just the average.

Depending on the area, it can range from 90 to 150 KD.

Now that you are mentioning air conditioning, I have a problem that during the summer I am freezing my ass off (please pardon the expression) so much that I find it more comfortable to be outside at 50 degrees then indoors. Everyone seems to crank their AC to max.

And I don't even come from a desert climate.

u reminded me of an activity i used to do with my brother when he would visit during summer and i would skive off of work to go out with him in the morning when there is no traffic in the streets of Salmiya we would "Mall Jump" i.e. walk in the blistering heat from one mall to the other to get to our destination, cooling off in the process.

the only thing you need to keep in mind is that as it is a desert climate, we have hot summers and cold winters, and unfortunately, not all central ACs have the capability to produce heat. personally, i am against heaters, but just in case, u might want to keep that in consideration (not the fact that i am against heaters, but how u fare in cold weather).

I heard that many people suffer fom nose blockage and breathing problems , dry cough on kuwait due to dusty air...
I als heard that the respiratory system gets  damaged for long years stay i kuwait..
Why is it so ?

All I can say is that I had throat problems for the past few years and it has gotten better ever since I arrived in Kuwait. Strange but true.

But i see many people suffering from dry cough , many nose allergies for long time  until they stay in kuwait..
Once they go for vacaton to their country ...they feel perfect...
So it is ??????????

And what u say abt inhaling sand dust...and dry cough...

The summer is really bad for allergies especially if business don't clean the air conditioners before cranking them up again. A lot of sneezing and when the dust storms come a lot of coughing so most people try to stay indoors during the dust season.

Winter is cooooold but not tooo cold so... 😝

I see it is typical problem in kuwait abt throat , nose ,  tummy......many people suffer of dry cough , running or blocked nose, acidity , severe headaches , cholestrol    ....and so on....but why only in kuwait...is the air too much polluted or allergy is contagious due to too much changing  and unpredictable hourly climate  of kuwait...
What is the  causeof so many allergies in kuwait...how is this controlled by health ministry..is it really tough to  control...

There are chemicals in the sand that are left over from the invasion, when the wind kicks up the sand everyone is breathing those chemicals which leads to other problems. Not much anyone can do about it, most wear those masks that don't really help but if they think it does that's all that matters.

They would really need to wear a gas mask if they were truly worried about the sand.

It is too common that you see 7 out of 10 people walking on the streets coughing or sneezing in kuwait...the invasion chemicals erode the respiratory system when u breath common air everyone breathes here ...
When u go to hospitals u get allergy tablets...but they r just temporary solutions...
But when u stay long....your respiratory system is at high risk....bcause the chemicals from the air or dust deposit and live permenantly in your respiratory system...
Is this in whole of gulf countries or only in kuwait...
Is there a solution for this in reality or just temporary solutions are available...
I heard many people  cannot breath properly after they work here for long time , say 15-20 yrs...when they go back to their country....bcause by that time their respiratory system is almost eroded and eaten up by chemicals in sand dust and air we breath.....is it true of kuwait ????????

It's true there a lot of sand storms and the summer brings on allergies, the government clinics will give you adol. Idon't know about the 15-20 years scenario as most expats don't want to leave Kuwait period so it must not be too bad here.

I always look at the bright side here. With all the endemic diseases in wet parts of the world, destruction of hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes and many other natural phenomena which affect our lives .... sand storms and heat are not all that bad.
