There are a lot of similar posts in the forum in this regard which might give you an idea about the current situation in Bahrain.

But in general terms, I would say yes, its safe to settle in Bahrain; you just have to avoid certain areas.

Hi Amii,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing.
The only threats against expats I've heard of are sent by some extremist groups like the one named in the article. The threats were only targeting expats from Pakistan because for historical and political reasons, Police and Army people are Pakistanis.
The opposition is a large wide group of different sensitivities.
Most of them are against the actual regime but looking for a democratic peaceful change.
A very few number are violent, mostly youngsters throwing stones at the police and blocking the roads with burning tires.
All the Shias I know will tell you that destroying someone else property or worse spilling the blood of someone is totally against their religion.
The problem is, even a small number of people can disrupt the life of many...

its pretty save in bahrain. Nothing to be scared off, when some people start " some areas" well those areas are prettying much hidden and I'm sure you won't be going there anytime soon.
