Opening Bank Account

pmilind

Hello All,

I am a US citizen and I am on visitor's visa in Bahrain.  I need to open a bank account as I may be coming here frequently and would stay for more than 2 months each time.

Any suggestions or list of documents required.

Your help appreciated

Regards

It used to be that banks would allow people without a CPR to open up a "savings" account in the past.  But now, with all the compliance requirements and so on, I very much doubt that any bank will allow you to open an account without having a residency/CPR.

Your citizenship is also an issue due to the stringent FATCA/CRS requirements - if any bank is lenient to any other country's citizens, they definitely won't be towards you.  It costs them time and effort for reporting requirements for US Citizens so they will follow the process BY THE BOOK for opening an account for you i.e. residency, CPR, employer letter etc etc. Blame IRS for that :).

Thank you for prompt reply.

At the same time can you help me with the procedure for opening WLL.

I do not intend to take any local partner.

I have already put a sticky on the forum for this:

And you can only open an SPC if there is only one partner i.e. you.  WLL by design has two or more partners.
