Driving Questions

Omeath

We are moving to Bahrain in the Summer and I have a couple of questions;
Which licenses can be used to hire a car in Bahrain?
Which licenses can be exchanged for a Bahrain license without having to do any test?
Specifically, my wife has Irish and UAE license.

Hi,

You could exchange your irish or UAE Driving license for a Bahrain Driving License without taking an exam again.

if you visit this link http://www.traffic.gov.bh/view/licenses … ng-license you will find the list of countries (though the website is in arabic you could translate it to english in chrome)

and with regarding to renting a car

Budget has these rules for renting a car
"Drivers license and ID requirements

Each driver must show photographic proof of identity and their passport at the start of the rental. All drivers must present a full and current driving licence which has been held for at least 1 year. The licence must be valid for use in the renting country.
If your licence was issued outside the European Community you must provide an International Driving Licence. Your driving licence must be valid according to the rules imposed by the Directorate of Traffic- Kingdom of Bahrain."

Hope this is informative for you,

Thanks & Regards,
Arjun

Thank you Arjun,
I just need my wife to be mobile until I get the CPR done.
Immediately she will rent..... may be forever as I am never to keen on buying a vehicle anymore..... one time rear smash and finish.

As long as she can use UAE or Irish license to rent initially without CPR that is OK.

Thanks again for your swift reply

I rented a car with only my uk licence and I haven't ever transferred it over to a Bahraini licence. I don't even have a CPR so I wouldn't worry too much :)
