Tips, advice, or contacts about job searching

julienfaure74

Hi everyone,

My name is Julien. I'm a 47-year-old French engineer, married, with two daughters. We've visited Sweden several times and absolutely love the country – its nature, values, and quality of life.

About a year and a half ago, we made the decision to move to Sweden for good. I'm currently looking for a job, preferably in the southern half of the country (Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Vasterås, Jönköping, etc.). Since I’m managing the relocation for my whole family, I would feel more secure moving after finding a job.

Unfortunately, despite many applications, I haven’t had any real opportunities so far. I’m wondering what I could do better, or if I'm missing something important in the process.

To give you a bit more background: I’m a control systems engineer with over 20 years of experience in the R&D department of a robotics manufacturer. I’m also learning Swedish with Swedish Institute of Paris and currently around A2 level.

Could you share any tips, advice, or even contacts that could help? I’d really appreciate insights on job searching in Sweden as an expat, or companies that are open to international profiles.

Thank you so much in advance!

Julien 😊
