This coverage is really US-only? That's a surprise, as pretty much nowhere is as expensive as USA, so they'd save money if you move away. :-)

You can also get public health coverage in Spain, which would be very useful if your company plan won't cover you abroad.

The rates are not expensive in spain for insurance coverage.  I’m sure they are less than what you are paying in the USA.  Are you going to move abroad full time or go back and forth?  Remember that Spain is in the top 10 in healthcare in the world.  Ranking after France, Italy, Thailand, costa Rico….etc…

if you are moving for good here to spain, then i would cancel your insurance in the usa as it serves no purpose when you are away.  There are many private insurance providers and you are always just minutes away from a hospital…😀

Yes, good advice. If we decide to stay in Spain then having the American plan is  pointless.

For the first year, in the experimental stage, I think it's good not to burn bridges.
