digital nomad visa- corporate tax implications

agcg

Hello! Wondering what the corporate tax implications for the digital nomad visa? trying to find answers about the implications for my UK employer company, as I am asking to be allowed to apply for the visa. They have questions regarding the risks/implications of corporate taxes, but from what I understand, from the dual tax agreement UK and Spain, it should not have consequences for them, as long as it is proven that I am paying into the social security system in Spain if I am a resident there. can anyone provide any resources/clarity on this please?

There shouldn't be any implications for your foreign employer! Other than they're happy for you to be a remote worker, and they'll provide whatever paperwork you need for your DNV application.

If your company employs you, and you're PAYE in the UK, then you could continue like that. That's probably most convenient for you and your employer.

Here's detailed info on the DNV...

My employer is also wondering this, do they need to do anything to allow me to work in Spain on the DNV?

The DNV is pretty new, so I'm not 100% of the exact requirements. But pretty sure you can continue as an employee of a UK company, and leave current arrangements unchanged (i.e. they deduct UK income tax and NI, pay your net salary direct to your UK bank account).

This strikes me as the most convenient option both in terms of getting your DNV, and checking out life in Spain while being able to painlessly return to the UK if it doesn't meet your expectations. Later, you can figure out whether you want to modify the arrangement, and perhaps become self-employed (autonomo) in Spain, or incorporate your own personal services company to invoice your employer(s).

I think the DNV requires some documentation (employment contract, if you don't already have one, and permission to work remotely) in relation to your foreign job, so your employer would need to provide this. Otherwise, I don't see why they need to do anything.
