Free and low-cost leisure activities in Slovenia

This is a good topic - thank you for asking it to make it public. I am only in Ljubljana this February and here are my suggestions:

8. February is Prešeren-Day, a public holiday to celebrate the famous Slovenian poet and culture. On this day all museums and galleries are free for charge. They even offer free tours and activities for the children. Try to book them in advance, because there's a huge demand. Go to Bled (and other places) by public transport. Walk around the lake and climb up to the castle. This is free, fun and beautiful. Or try https://prevoz.org/ for a cheap ride.

Check the meetups Ljubljana/Slovenia (meetup.com), where you can join groups and activities free of charge, e. g a bikeride around a lake in spring. Membership is needed (about 5 Euro/monthly) to start you own group
