For the first few months in Lisbon, I’d separate “where should I live?” from “where can I sign safely?” Spend your first calls checking: walking distance to metro/train, whether the building is noisy at night, heating/AC, internet speed, deposit terms, and whether the person showing the flat can prove they manage or own it. If you can, book a shorter furnished stay first and use that time to visit neighborhoods in person.

Common starter areas for people new to Lisbon are Baixa/Chiado for convenience, Príncipe Real/Santos for a more residential-but-central feel, Anjos/Intendente for value while staying central, and Ajuda/Belém if you want calmer streets.

Still compare with Idealista/OLX and local agents — Longpad is one option, not the only route.
