It is also a pilgrimage, a celebration of youth, an expression of the universal Church and an intense moment of evangelization for the youth world. Although its Catholic identity is clearly evident, WYD opens its doors to everyone, no matter how close to or distant from the Church they are.

Parade with blessing in front of the local church, decorated streets, horse carriages, music ....

This Fest has ancient origins in pagan cults and was Christianised in the 14th century by the portuguese Holy Queen Isabel.

At the base of each tray is a basket, covered by a white cloth on which a structure is erected to support 30 loaves of bread, weighing 400 grams each, and a crown topped by the Christ's Cross, the armillary sphere, a navigational instrument transformed into a royal symbol, or a white dove, representing a divinity. In between are dozens of paper flowers, in an allusion to the story of Holy Queen Isabel and the miracle of the roses. Each tray is accompanied by a man and a woman, the woman being responsible for carrying it on her head. The structure weighs between 15 and 18 kilos, and if there is an imbalance her pair helps her, otherwise men do nothing....

Santa Maria da Feira Medieval Fair

The Santa Maria da Feira Medieval Fair, considered one of the largest medieval recreation in Europe. It takes place every year. In 2026, it will run from 29 July to 9 August.

Campo Maior People’s Festival (Alentejo),

UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

The famous Campo Maior People’s Festivals will take place from 8 to 16 August 2026. Around 100 streets in the historic centre are completely covered with millions of paper flowers handmade by the local people, transforming the town into a gigantic, colourful garden.

These festivals do not take place at regular cycles, but whenever the people decide. The last People’s Festivals were held in 2015, 11 years ago.

They were classified as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Tribeca Festival Lisboa is the European extension of New York’s iconic Tribeca Festival. It represents a major cultural collaboration bringing international and portuguese filmmakers, actors, musicians, and creators together.

For the third edition of Tribeca Festival Lisbon, taking place from December 10–13, 2026, global guest speakers and talent include actress Katie Holmes, actor and filmmaker Edward Burns, creator and comedian W.
