Visa renewal online

debsS

Good morning

Has anyone tried to successfully submit on the new site?

https://contactenos.aima.gov.pt/contact-form

I saw it  announced today in the news.

To be honest, I am slightly confused by it. I don't see a clear option for the renewal of a "Titulo de Residência" that has an expired card but is still valid via decree extension until October 15 (such as a D7). Perhaps I am just missing the nomenclature.

@JohnnyPT can you clarify?

@Perpetual_traveler

True. In the case of visas, one of the possible options is a visa extension ( = prorrogação de vistos).

This new option is quite recent, just since 1st July 2025. This option requires you to send scanned copies of your passport and visa.

Thank you! That is great!

Thank you for this.  It's good to see they are making some progress, hoping they'll get "renewal" residences/visas up and working online.  Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately this option does not work. I try to make my submission with all the information and attachements being correct, but it rejects the submission because it rejects the título number - it wants a visa number, not a título number. I believe that this option is for those who have been issued visa that are expiring or have expired because they can't get an appointment (before being issued títulos). I did not try it using the original entry visa number from years ago as that visa number is no no longer relevant since I have a título.

For whatever reason, I don't think that those with títulos can use this new system, and must still wait to be contacted.

@Perpetual_traveler,

You're right.  This online option is for visa extensions (extending the stay of the current visa) and not for residence permits renewals.

Renewal of Expired Residence Permits:

Holders of residence permits expiring before / after 30 June 2025

The deadlines have been extended as AIMA is still sorting out other problems.
