Change of driving license

kem Char

Hey.. I have a Moroccan license that I got a year after I got the Portuguese residency.. I went to the IMT office and asked to change the license. They told me, with all racism, that I could not do it, and that the law requires that the license must be older than the residence.

Also, my license has not yet completed six months..

although the law written on the official website says that I can change the license within two years!!!

I need your help can I change it or not?

Thanx

Thank you for your reply... But the information there does not include my case.

I got the license a year after obtaining the Portuguese residency.

Yes, it is included. It does not matter if it was before or after obtaining residency. It is a foreign driving licence...

DRIVING LICENCES FROM COUNTRIES WITH A BILATERAL AGREEMENT WITH PORTUGAL

If you live in Portugal, you must exchange your foreign driving licence for a Portuguese licence within 2 years after taking up residence in Portugal. This measure covers Morocco.

@JohnnyPT

Thank you for your reply.. This is what I Understood from the IMT page, and I went to them but they refused, anyway I will try again.

Thank you
