Making friends

strudwickclaire

I do not have a question but would like to reach out to connect with others. I am a mother of two girls (age 10 and 11). We relocated to Budapest from the south west of England in August 2020 due to my husbands job. I would love to connect with other mums who enjoy the outdoors, yoga, walking, theatre, art galleries. I am also a sea lover so I’m always seeking opportunities to be near water.

Perhaps you can meet up with some other 'Mom's" when your girls start school?
It's not always easy to meet people in the exactly same situation you are in.
Some of the activities you mentioned you enjoy doing don't exactly seem like things young girls like doing.
After August the,"Hungarian Sea", Lake Balaton pretty much closes up shop.

I agree, Balaton will be dead come early September.   At the moment, it's really a good time to be here (in Balaton).  It's boiling hot, the water is cool and everything is open.

We were in Balatonlelle last night, the Funfair is on and there's a one price entry fee and go on as many rides as you want.   Mrs F and I queued up for the kids while they went on all the shorter queue rides. They went on everything multiple times.  The bumper cars/dodgems were the most popular with all of us.  I found an upside to being 60 - it was free for me!

Schools go back - as always - early September, so  it'll be back to the usual school based activities.

Balaton is a distance from Budapest but there are many pools in the city.
I'm not too sure about all the prices, some are affordabe and some are not really for everyday use as they cost a ton.
3 summers ago we went to the spa Szechenyi in the city park area.
Something like $25. a person to enter and we had to sit on the hard ground because the place was so packed with tourists.
My US cousin and his wife wanted to see it, we only spend 3 hours there so not a great overall bargin.
I know when I was a young mom and my son was 10 or so, I was going to the gym every morning after I dropped him off at schol. Was so super busy afterwards with my house and home activites I barely had time to take a shower. No time for freinds at all.
We had a pool at home so we enjoyed our own private Idaho.
My husband only worked 6 hours a day so it was rush , rush , rush to do anything before it was family time.
All my friends either had children of a different age or they had none so no play dates happened.
