same question as fluffy, why jewellery business in Hungary, many more attractive places on this world I would say

Yes, why Hungary.
I'd actually think silver smithing would be better here since most people can't afford gold and those who can already have their connections.
Our friend from Hungary has been a gold smith in his little shop in Honolulu for decades, he gets by but isn't wealthy.
I know from my own experience, I hardly wear my few gold pieces in Hungary anylnger.
I put my nice things away because it stands out too much on public transportation.
My HU husband always asks me if I plan on being robbed or not when I put my gold on, simple stuff too.
Meaning you probably would need a shop in a higher end neigborhood which leads back to they are already established.
Not easy to break in here at all.
Hungary is OK but has it's limitations , no why would I wish to need a paycheck to survive here by working our trying my hand in bussiness here. Too many back door deals.
Our old friend used to be a driver for a major jewlery co. here. They have several shops around the country. Didn't seem like they had room for more of the same sort of business.
Another person we know another HU guy lives in the US . His wife and her ex-husband started a silver smithing business. It is super succesful but they do mostly online sales.
I really don't remember the name of the business but they are big. All the rock,"stars" and actor types wear their custom made pieces.
They advertize is trade papers for the music industry. The adds alone cost a mint.
Some other friends spent a month or so at their home in the states and told us about it all.
They have horses, fancy cars a big house in the countryside but the wife starts drinking her whiskey at 2 pm until the late night hours. Doesn't sounds like they are all that happy after all.
They guy just basically married a rich women and helps with her silver smithing co.
Not everyone get hooked up like that.

I really  can't offer any important information about business in Hungary.
I've never worked here in Hungary.
I just know what I've heard and from things I've observed.
My husband and 2 other men tired an import-export business between the US and HU back around 1989.
It was  not good in the end, we all were lucky to just about break even.
So many people had their hands in the pot.
family even would take merchandise because they liked it or thought they deserved it without asking first.
In fact, my SIL took a gold necklace without asking.
A Sony Walkman was taken by her daughter too..
I purchased a silver ring in a small silversmiths shop located in the 5th district of Budapest over 20 years ago. They are still operating and have been there for over 50 yeaers. The daughter has taken over the designing.
Reasonable priced items with some having semi-presious stones.
Diamonds are probably a hard sell here as they cost too much.
The shop where our friend was a driver in the country is pretty much mid priced itmes, lots of silver.
I hate to rag on Hungary but I am still surprised after over a decade about how tricky things run here. It seems they do discriminate against people in different ways. Not going to be easy to do any sort of business unless you speak Hungarian to a certain level.
The Chinese shops seem to do well here run by mostly those from Vietnam.
They speak some basic Hungarian from what I know and many were born in Hungary. They get get their merchandise cheaper and have their sources. It's funny they are called Chinese shps because they aren't even Chinese half the time.
I'd say if you really wish to move here you might just decide to work for someone for awhile to figure out the ropes and how things go here.
I know a young black women who was living in HU for awhile. Always some hassle over her skin tone, rejected here and there from getting immigration paperwork and such. Well she moved to Sweden and with just being engaged to a Swed they are giving her the world, paperwork to live there in peace.
Part of the EU but still half way behind the iron curtain still over here.
If you have a choice, maybe western Europe would be better in the long run?

Incredibly naïve I would say, just somebody told you about Hungary, why did you not do your own research in taxes, but also mindset of people. Business (or life for that matter) is difficult for most, just shooting off some items to become part of Schengen to various forums is not helping I would think.
Setting up a company is easy and not very expensive, you however should ask yourselves what type of company, how much income do I expect, where do I live, do they actually serve lamb, so many many questions.
Again main question why Hungary and why do you think clients would come to you in Hungary. Perhaps you have a case but it certainly does not show.

PS I do have my own Hungarian company, but work is not here, but within travelling distance. Loads of good accounting companies around who can also give you advice (but you have to pay, nothing is for free in this world).
In my view you are wasting time of forum members unless you are serious (I did not see anything with regards to that (not a single concrete question)
For starting a company in Hungary please look on internet for basic requirements (KATA for very small company Kft for a bit bigger, other versions also available), just do your research. Google is there, anyhow you will need professional help of a service provider, the forum can give some high level directions, but setting up a company? (you need a bit more (health insurance, fiscal number, residency and residency card, bank account, VAT number, ....)
I have written enough on the topic, unless you prove to be serious I will not contribute anymore

No one can tell you in what business to start.
