Moving to Hungary

Dear all,

I want to give a brief intro on myself. My name is Saffiera Akinyemi-Breidel and will be moving to Hungary in the next 2 months time with my husband. A brand new beginning with a fresh start and i am exited to what Budapest will bring to the table. At the moment we are still located in South Africa - Johannesburg that is right now experiencing Xenophobia attacks also brutal violence against woman and children. Both my husband and i are foreigners and i am hoping to have a bit more peace and safeness when i walk the streets in Hungary. I would love to introduce my side business as well i sell Vsteaming products for ladies and also African jewelry i hope i can meet some interesting people here on this platform that will be able to give me some tips and also just to also maybe to make some new friends.One other thing i would love to look for a place in District 8 because i found that that the RCCG Jesus House Budapest is close by i would love to attend this church with my husband as well hope we can meet people on this platform that attend this church as well would be Nice.

You'll have to ask the Expat.com about advertising.

There are religious people in Hungary but it's in decline everywhere in Europe. But you'll find a place for that somewhere.

Your biggest barriers are the language, the unfriendly government and the xenophobic behaviour of a large chunk of the population.

True, lately Hungary seems to have more xenophobic people then years ago.
maybe it is because of the news media here and all the flood of immigrants into Europe from the east.
I have a US friend here in Hungary who is a women of color.
She and her father moved to HU in 2016.
Mostly she seems OK here but at times people have said some very rude things to both her and her father.
They also had a difficult time finding a place to rent, not because of their income but because of their race.
She isn't very active on this site otherwise I'd share more info so that she could possibley share her experiences with you.
My son who has dual citizenship from the US and HU is now living in Japan with his Japanese wife.
We would of liked him to come to HU with us but he isn't willing to bring his Asain wife here as there is no big future for her here. She had a hard time for 7 years in the US so Hungary would not be a logical option for her. If you can't make it in Vegas then you can't make it anywhere...
I have watched many documentaries about how bad things are going in S. Africa and of course if you can then get out of there but honestly, you will have to take Hungary with a grain of salt.
No place is perfect.that's for sure.

I'd have thought if her English (not Hungarian) was up to scratch, she probably could have scored a job with either the Japanese government or possibly an international business engaged in business with Japan. BTW, the biggest Japanese population I've heard of in Europe is in Duesseldorf, Germany for some reason. Certainly not in Hungary!
