UK Elections are being held this year!!!

Have you registered to vote yet? All you need is:

✅ Passport (current or expired)
✅ National Insurance number
✅ Part of your last address in the UK

It takes 5 minutes to register and the process has been made very simple.

I tried to register my 18 year old and it was refused as that offspring has never truly lived in the UK, despite having a UK passport. 

I'm not on any electoral roll in the UK.  They also said they couldn't find me to verify my kid's registration.  Been too long it seems.

I think the new law for overseas voters needs rewriting.   I could try asking the MP  where I might have been registered some years ago.  I could possibly write to them.  But as I'm not on the roll anyway, I might be ignored as no-one represents me. 

It's really not a good situation.

Done all that and no joy.  They refused our kid's application.  I  think it was so long ago, I don't even remember where I was registered and I seem to be key in linking our kid into the voting system.  And it seems like they no longer know anything about me and therefore offspring cannot be added to the electoral roll.  IMHO, if you've got a UK passport, that should be good enough to be able to vote. 

I am not sure what they are doing about proof of ID for overseas voters. It's now a UK requirement which excludes many people.  Tory gerrymandering that will backfire on them.

Meanwhile, I feel this corner of forever England is disenfranchised.    I'll have to take the flags down.
