I am not surprised but it sounds like they weren't exploiting the geothermal technology enough.

There are baths here in Budapest which are heated by geothermal springs.

Sounds like the government needs to give them a grant to improve the situation.

Maybe they can get some EU money for it.

Well, just like I planned swiming in Thailand, haven't gone past the planning stages.

I'm sure it will reopen when tourist season starts again.

It's far away from here.  I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.  But sorry for the people there. 

We've just had a gas bill.  Looks like subsidised.  We're not using the heating currently as it's too warm. Electricity has gone up though as it seems it's not subsidised.

They could heat the pools by electricity now they've agreed with Putin to finish the nuclear power station extension.

A price increase however, almost double.

Not every bath in Hungary is on geothermal. Hévíz lake for sure, then most famous Budapest Gellért bath and likely a few more.here in the city. Páskal bath in Bp-Zuglo, a bit off the city center, is not on geothermal. As far as I know they received a Széchenyi support grant, topped it up and are spending now 100 mln Ft on energy-saving infrastructure including solar. Obviously outdoor pools in all baths are anyway closed and drained during winter.

Electricty is government supported up to 210 kWh/month - importantly - on average. If you report monthly, any credit kWh will be carried over, if you pay fixed instalments, the balance will be calculated at the next annual reading. Discount tariff in Bp is 36.2 Ft/kWh (incl of VAT), excess electricity over and beyond 210 kWh costs almost twice that, namely 70.1 Ft/kWh.

As for gas, government supports up to 144 m³/month - again - on average. Credit from summer/autumn months carried over as described above. Discount tariff in Bp is approx. 100 Ft/kWh (incl of VAT), excess gas used over and beyond the limit is being priced at market rates and costs presently 7.3 times the discount rate.

Good work. Aquaworld is partially using geothermal.

Have you got any info on the petrol situation?

Mrs F says they are "auditing their books" and they have therefore suspending some types of fuel sales while they audit.

Supposedly MOL is doing this.

The real idea might be they're making a loss so are scaling back on the 480 HUF/litre price.

I was actually thinking of going swimming for my BD in a few weeks.

A spa day.

I am not crazy about just sitting in hot water( I'm always in hot water without trying as it is!)

Just lap swimming is all I enjoy really.

I was not even thinking of doing laps at an outdoor pool.

Way to chilly for me and my husband will not allow me to get a cold.

He is like a mother hen about me getting ill again.

We used to swim at Paskal and liked it.

Then they remodeled the place and it got busier then comfortable.

They charged full price but closed the several lap lanes for summper clubs to practice.

I was under the impression that their ourdoor pool was open all year long however.

No reason to think of going there for the thermal waters, just sitting in a pool of dead skin from others ..

I think Rudas should be staying open, their lap pool isn't to large and it's chancy to swim without finding an old folks group hanging onto the sides of the pool or doing the slow crawl stroke.

Guess I'll have to wait until springtime to swim again?

Petrol could be an issue I suppose soon. Yesterday we were thinking of just filling up the tank, drve past the station and noticed a long line waiting to pull up.

We use the 100 oxtane gas, not sure if most people were trying to get the 95 oxtane?

I also noticed as we drove around that more people seem to be waiting for the buses then normal.

Cave baths are on our list.

The petrol shortage is likely to get worse.  MOL sell something called Evo 100 and Evo something else.  Supposed to be energy saving but costs more. What would be the point?  Any gains offset by the increased price.  Bonkers.

I've just come back from dog walking and the car park there is part of a Park and Ride scheme.  There used to be no cars there during the week but now it's busy every day.

It would make sense people are using public transport.  Our daughter says it's busier on the bus.  And there are more weirdos.

Talk about weirdos on the bus.

In Vegas my husband's car was in the shop for a couple of days.

I had him ride the bus to work.

He said one morning a young women was being eyeballed hard by some dude.

She asked for it, she was busy doing her self up including of all things, putting deodorant on in public!! She just wouldn't stop fixing herself up. This weird dude told her out loud, you smell good. she seemd to eat it up.

Another time our son's Mercedes was getting worked on, He worked the night shift, always the crazies come out at night..

As he waited for the bus after work some ,"chick" came up to him and said, you can be my boyfriend if you want. I see you have a job! He was wearing his dealing outfit.

What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas!

We just heard the gas stations at MOL are out of gas.

Dark winter is here.

It is sad for those who need their car to get to work.

I told my husband a month back to fill up. It's all good though, we can walk or ride the rails if needed.

I suppose if they really are low on petrol no one will be driving to the cave baths.
