Greetings all.
I am moving to Greece later in the year. I have lived in Athens before so I know what I am getting I am hoping that some socialising opportunities may come about by interacting on this forum. I will be based in Athens at first, but am not sure where I'll end up - there are so many lovely places to live in Greece!

I don't know how to type very fast so do be patient with my replies...I wonder if anyone has an opinion on 'the migrant crisis', as it is called in the media. Are all those graphic images really true? Have many people been interned in camps? Are they a potential burden on the EU?

I had a Greek friend some time back, lost his address e-mail. It would be wonderful to be in touch with her again!

Hello everybody,

my name is Aurelie and I'm from Lyon in France. I'm 30 years old. I recently worked as a hotel manageress where I also got to know my boyfriend Aléxios. We plan on moving to Greece next summer. Aléxios is originally from Corinth where we also want to move. This is why I'm looking for a job there. Hopefully I can start in a hotel again I'm thankful for every advice I can get here, concerning jobs as well as people, houses and language.

Im not sure that you will find work here,the situation is dire,I know Greeks unemployed in Corinth,there are many hotels in Loutraki but times are hard and tourism has taken a set back as Loutraki is a place where Greeks have second homes and many used to vacation for the summer in hotels but now they have pulled back.I see some Romanians and Slovakians in Loutraki who I guess work in hotels.There are ferry boats coming into Corinth port and maybe work might be found on those,cruise ships come in as well.You dont want to find yourselves hungry,Pireas also has many passenger ferry boats and cruise ships coming and the offices are on the harbor front at Pireas where you might enquire.But believe me things are very bad,with persistance hopefully you will find something.

I see no reply from Aurelie with regard to the kind posts in answer to her questions but just to say that its probably best to stay where you are after speaking to unemployed friends around Corinth,absolutely no work they say,a few weeks here and there if you are Greek in a plastic cup factory.terribly difficult,they are all getting seriously hungry so do bear this in mind for your return.

Hi all. I'm Maggi from Scotland. Have spent loads of time in Greece over thevpast 10 years, visiting islands by yacht. Now thinking of moving there. Am travelling to Greece tomorrow to spend a month on Aegina to try it. Ferries are on strike so have to stay in Piraeus for a couple of nights, but hope to make it there on Saturday. Hello all. My name is Dee and I am moving to Athens to study at the American University there. I have a visa for one year but depending on how it goes I will likely apply for a residency permit for the duration of my studies. I am starting in January 2017 but am heading to Athens next week to find housing. Its been difficult to find landlords to write back but finally found a realtor with nice properties in the city. I look forward to studying and living in Greece.

You should get official advice about your entry-visa-permit requirements from the Greek embassy in your own country or from Athens,you will see some information on line.You may find it difficult to stay here as Greece is extremely flooded as you know right now and as you are non EU you may meet a brick wall.If you have a job organised with an employer to vouch for you with an official contract, but as jobs are extremely scarce this would be hard to obtain for yourself.
