Anthropologist looking for young Europeans in Berlin

isabelbre

Hi people!

I am a student of anthropology at UCL London and currently doing research in Berlin for my final thesis. I am looking for young Europeans who have moved here related to the crisis. If this sounds like you, please get in touch and become part of my project!

A few words on what I do and why:

As much as this phenomenon of young Europeans moving country after the crisis has not been studied sufficiently, neither has Berlin as a place to move - opposed to London or other strong economic performers. So what I'd like to do is meet people who are in this situation, have a couple of conversations with them about their motives for moving, their expectations, their current situation and their vision for the future. This will give me a good idea about why people choose Berlin, what it offers, where it fails to live up to wishes and demands and where it is going. Also, I will particularly exemplify my study by looking at how people live and what they have around them in their homes. I'll be interested to see if you brought anything big or small with you, bought anything locally - if so what, where and why - or are just using other people's things on a very temporary basis. All of this will help to colour the general picture.

Contact me if you're interested, if you know anyone who might be or if you have any questions. I speak German, English and French. You can email me to isabel.bredenbroeker@gmail.com

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Not sure if (or which) financial crisis???
I guess you have to be more specific in explaining what you want or need.

isabelbre

Not sure why you're not sure :)

I am referring to the global financial crisis which started in mid 2008 and it's effects on the Euro zone during 2008/09 until now.

There were many financial crises, and as far as I know also several (in various parts of the world) since 2008/09. Sorry to be nit-picking, but I really didn't understand ("financial crisis" is most commonly used for the Asian crisis of 1997/98). Even the "Euro crisis" is really several unrelated issues in different countries. It is better to be precise in saying what you mean, especially as a researcher!

Sorry, but your comment is a bit weird. I have a good understanding of the financial crisis in Europe and its diversities. Might not have been phrased to that extend but this is what I am looking for: Young Europeans who have moved within Europe in the past years, motivated by the economic conditions in their home countries which are a result of the global and Euro financial crisis. There you go.

Did you get much feedback through this post?
(By the way: Your original post was only about people who moved to Berlin!?!)
