British citizen - family visa for Germany

Shan Yerkes

Hi,

I'm Shan, a British citizen who is married to a German citizen, currently living in London. I and my wife are planning to relocate to Berlin and I was told I'd need to apply for a family reunion visa?

If that's the case, my question is: can I apply for a residence permit from Germany once I've arrived? If yes, how long is the processing time since I'm only allowed to stay 90 days due to Brexit.

Thank you!

Shan

You can enter Germany and apply for a spouse residence permit in country:

"Furthermore, citizens of Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States of America may obtain any residence permit that may be required after entering Germany. "

The Berlin Ausländerbehörde operates an online appointment system, make sure to book one early!
