Do french visas require Health Insurance?

Hey! Does anyone know if ALL french visas require health insurance? I'm confused by all the visa info sites...

I'm pretty sure though you need health insurance if you are staying for longer than 3 months, no matter what kind of visa you are applying for.

Hi, I'm agree with winnipeg/toulouse. You will need a health insurance. Actually yo un need to provide the insurance contract/paper as part of your request for the visa. This apply for 1 day to n days.

Thanks! I'm trying to find info on the internet but everything is so vague. Do you know if I need a specific kind of health insurance? Or can I just use my regular local health insurance??
