Cyprus naturalisation

phildraper

Has anyone gone thru this? I understand that there is a requirement for being in Cyprus for 7+ years and being able to pass exams on language and history etc. We are currently in Cyprus with a temp residence visa and my wife is thinking she might go for the language course to get naturalization. If she did I was wondering if I would also be  automatically naturalised and not need the exams.

No, your naturalisation will not be automatic if your wife gains Cypriot citizenship. Naturalisation in Cyprus is an individual process, and one spouse's citizenship does not transfer to the other automatically.

However, if your wife becomes a Cypriot citizen, your path to citizenship becomes much faster and easier through Citizenship by Marriage.
