I am no lawyer but my guess it will be a struggle for you. You will need to find someone that specialises in in international family law.

Are you German? Maybe you can find someone in Germany?

I'm sorry I'm not aware of anyone, though there are quite a few German people in Varna so it's not impossible you might find someone.

Yes, I am in Germany but the problem is that the court hearing is in Balchik. So I need someone who ideally understands both Bulgarian and German law .I previously had a lawyer in Varna, but he wasn’t very good at challenging the other side or fighting my case strongly enough. That’s why I’m now trying to find a lawyer with the right expertise and someone who will properly fight my case.

If the lawyer is based in Sofia, I would also have to cover the additional travel costs for them to travel to Balchik for the court hearing, which could become quite expensive.

Indeed so. But it may be possible to have the case moved to Sofia. Having been in the business, I can assure you of what you no doubt  already know: you can have it good or you can have it cheap, but not both together.
