Well water pumping system

MountainLife

Greetings esteemed forum members!

We live in a house in a rural area fairly close to Sofia.

The house is being supplied with running water by a dug well, where a pumping system has been installed; it includes an electrical pump, pressure tank, and a pipe system. It all worked well, but about a month ago the water pressure at the taps has dropped significantly and suddenly.

At the same time time, the water level in the well is normal, there is plenty of water as usual.

We have been trying to find a specialist who could visit and repair the system, but no luck so far.

In case you might know a company or an individual who could help, would you be so kind to let us know?

Thank you so much in advance!

Hi, I used to manage a couple of boreholes on a large estate back in the uk, common faults can be the obvious… a faulty pump, air in system (depending on type of set up you have) and sediment build up in the pump..try lift the pump out of the borehole and cleaning it and all the related pipes. I assume it goes through a filtration system too as this too can be a cause such problems as can the pressure tank …take one thing at a time and check. Pm me if you need anything else Rgds Ozzy

They probably bought the property with it already there. If they did it themselves, they would be asking the company that drilled and put the pump in for help.

Hi Sean, thank you for your reply.

I checked their website, and found there a control box for sale, it shows the water level in the well. Not sure if that was the piece of equipment you mentioned, so I will wait for your link to appear, to see which one you meant.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Ozzy, and thank you for your reply!

I think your suggestion that there might be air in the system is quite probable. Would you mind telling what are the steps to check for that?  I’m new to water pumping systems and currently know very little about them. I also will PM you as the situation develops, I am sure there will be more questions, thank you!

@landroversaleseu

The well had already been there when we bought the property.

Thank you!

@SimCityAT

That is correct, the well had already been there, for many years.

Thank you SimCity!

What was wrong with it?

@SimCityAT

They replaced the pump and the pressure switch. Also they found some air in the system, so system reset or something like that. Works well now!

Works well now, that made me smile even if not intended.
