Affirdable English language highschool in Brussels

Bogaerts isn't in Brussels though, it's 25km south in Waterloo. It's comparable prices with International Montessori and more expensive than BICS.

Jean 23 Woluwe is a local French school in Woluwe-St-Pierre is starting an English immersion program for children born in 2000, up to 13 hours (40% teaching time) who will be in 3rd secondaire and it's a school which is sympathetic towards non francophones.

There is Le Verseau, another local school which teaches 4/5 hours a week to mother tongue level English, rest of the time in French. There is always space in the secondaire classes and it's about 40% anglophone/non francophone at home, but again it's not in Brussels, it's 20km south-east in a little place called Bierges part of Wavre. Oh and you pay fees there like a private school, up to 5k per year.

I'll look up the Woluwe-St Pierre school and try to contact them asap. Le Verseau I did email but did not get a response in over a week.

However, I would much prefer a school where they actually teach as many as possible courses in English, so that the kids adapt smoothly. I'm sure they will learn French well in a year or so. I'm also francophone and will encourage interactions with locals. I just don't wish for their educational progress and self-esteem to be undermined by the change.

Bogaerts seems more international than BICS and is certainly much cheaper than BSB, ISB and St John's which would be our first choice had it not been for those exorbitant tuition fees.

However, I can't track anyone who has had an experience with his/her kids at Bogaerts.
I have been warned against BICS by a number of colleagues who decided against sending their kids there even though they were much younger than mine. Apparently it's a small catholic school in one rather small building.

Bogaerts advertises that its students can continue for the IB in the Scandinavian School's (SSB). Is the latter competitive enough? Is the SSB's IB considered good? It's certainly cheaper than the other 3 English language international schools. The grounds and extra-curricular activities offered by Bogaerts through SSB seem to make it a well rounded school.

If your employer isn't paying fees, or you have a set limit below what you need, then English language schooling in Belgium can be (e.g. usually is) a complete nightmare.

There are options, but budget 3-4K per child and be prepared to either move, travel to work yourself, or both to some degree.
