Now I wish to work in belgium. Can anyone guide me on how to get a job offer. Is it possible to get job by applying through online job websites like "brusselsjobs.com, stepstone etc"

If i enter belgium through schengen visa type 'D' (for stay more than 3 months in belgium) and search job?

Thanks for your valuable response!!

Find a job before you arrive, do NOT pretend to be a tourist on a Schengen tourist visa when your real aim is to seek employment, it will work against you. There are 1000s of IT workers who has legally moved to Belgium, having found jobs before arriving and been issued with work permits.

Hi tervurener,

Thanks for your information. When I inquired belgium embaccy in India they told that Schengen visa 'D' (National Visa) is for long term stay in belgium for following criteria

"for visits exceeding three months, whether for study, training, working or residence"

So i was in the idea for getting this national visa to enter belgium to search job.

I have already worked in belgium for two years (2008 to 2010). I came there through my Indian employer. Will this help me to get a job in brussels in any way? Please let me know your idea

Do you have any agency who will look a job in contract basis? Please share the details

I think you'll only get that national visa if you already have the offer of a job, not designed to allow people to come and look for a job. Haven't looked it up, but sure it's the case.

There is a thread which is not too old where an Indian national updated the work permit to visa to travel process in quite some detail, go and look for it, I thought it was extremely informative for others.

If you've lived here before, you should have a better idea than me of the IT sector here and where to look.

There'd be nothing wrong with applying for a Schengen 90 day visa and searching for work whilst here on holiday IF you then return and apply for a national visa, having a few job interviews perhaps in those 90 days. In fact by returning home and applying for a long term visa, it usually creates a sense of trust to issue national visas and work permits rather than reject. And yes if you complied with previous work permits and visas, it has the same effect and if you applied for a Schengen visa (national visas are different) following living here, returning home to India for 3 years and still had a job in India, you're the ideal candidate to be issued with one.
