Things to do in Panama during the weekends

In Panama City, my favorite thing to do on the weekends is to hike the entire Cinta Costera to Casco Viejo and then explore a different part of the old town.  There is so much to see in Casco Viejo that you need to visit many times to explore all of the historical sights.  Although the Cinta Costera can be enjoyed any day of the week, it is the weekends that are the best time enjoy this trail/park.   Weekends are when families are out enjoying time together.  Sometimes there will be a surprise musician or mini festival going on.  People hike, bike, rollerblade, and picnic along this beautiful trail in Panama City.  Dogs are welcome, too!

Agree with PacificaMaryAnn -- Cinta Costera is a great place where to hang out over the weekend (or any day of the week really).

If you enjoy cycling in addition to the bike lane all along the hiking trail every Sunday from 6 AM to noon the whole Avenida Balboa is closed to traffic and there are hundreds of bikers going up and down the street. If you don't have a bike you can rent one at various spots along the street, or at Urban Bikes across the street from the fish market.
