Blocking Unsolicited Messages

NothingNew

A while ago I decided to stop unsolicited messages after I received a long and meandering message in French (of all languages) critical of my posts and stating that "all countries have their negatives and positives."

Since it came from someone in France, I've worked in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Mozambique and they too have negatives and positives, would I recommend retirement there? No.

This is only my opinion on those countries and elsewhere in the world. I've only cautioned people to do "due diligence" and consider the source of the information--and the possible motives for that information

Panama is not what it once was, Bocas del Toro was under Martial Law last year and the government shut down the internet (sound familiar) in that province.

If I didn't marry here 35+ years ago I think that there's more attractive locations. If you want to live in a place like Boquete because it's "cooler"  than most of Panama, may I recommend southern Argentina? Cheaper and more breathtaking than most of Alaska.

But don't criticize others because they have a different opinion. Again, it's my opinion and I've always said use due diligence.

I really appreciate this comment. I knew there was a situation in Bocas with the banana company but I sure didn’t know about martial law and the internet thing. I met a man on the airplane last month who lives there and he never mentioned anything about that to me. I will investigate this further.
