@Cheryl

   Thanks

So did you get permission from the supplier, I believe is Edeste, to do this install?  Only 15% of volume per line is allowed to be off grid.  Without that permission  you are dead in the water.  And Edeste is likely able to recommend installers in the area.

I read recently they are looking to increase this to 25% of capacity being off grid. That is not yet law.  the gov't is also looking to shorten the approval time to under  45 days from the current 90 days plus!

@planner

interesting... so just to confirm, are you saying in DR it is illegal to have more than 15% of your energy utility being off-grid via solar panels? So you're legally forced to only use solar for 15% of your needs and purchase the other 85% from the grid? Did I understand that accurately? I'm looking into the solar industry alot since I want to be a Solar Sales Rep in DR, but if this legality is an issue then you're helping me rethink that decision... 🤔

It seems solar installation is really not beneficial to residentials or small businesses, unless you are completely off the grid. Here too many stories from small businesses that they have a hard time getting paid back from the utility.

No.  15% of any particular grid is allowed to be solar!  You can be 100% solar but you must have permission. It's a process and not quick!
