Advice getting around between San Jose, and the beaches of the Pacific Coast?

2runningwild

Greetings! We are planning to visit Costa Rica for the first time in December. We're retired, and looking for new countries to explore. This will be an "exploratory" visit for my husband and I, so we're planning on visiting the Pacific Coast first. We have no intention of buying, but possibly look at long term rentals for future visits. Transportation within the country is a concern of mine, as we do not like to rent cars or drive in other countries. Any advice on getting around between San Jose, and the beaches of the Pacific Coast? Any advice that would be helpful to newcomers is welcome. Thank you in advance.

Bus service from either San Jose or Liberia (the two international airports) is pretty good. So are taxis.
