Italian considering moving to Da Nang – Need advice

Hi everyone!

I'm an Italian currently working abroad and I've recently become very interested in Da Nang. I'm considering moving there in the future, and I'd love to hear from people who actually live there, especially fellow Italians.

I have a few questions:

- Is it realistic for a foreigner to open a small business in Da Nang?

- Can you make a decent living with a small café, beach bar, restaurant, or similar business?

- Is it easier to invest in an existing business rather than starting one from scratch?

- How complicated is the bureaucracy for foreigners?

- Are there any legal or practical challenges I should know about?

- Is Da Nang still a good place for new businesses, or is the market already saturated?

- Roughly how much capital would you recommend having before considering such a move?

I'm not looking to become rich overnight. My goal is to build a good life, enjoy the city, and run a business that provides a comfortable living.

I'd really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences, whether positive or negative.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Alessio27,

Welcome to Expat.com

There are not many Italian members on the Da Nang forum, but it is quite an active community, so I am sure you will receive valuable insights from expats of many different nationalities who are already living there.

While you are waiting for replies, I would also recommend having a look at our guide: Living in Vietnam: the ultimate expat guide. It covers many aspects of daily life and the practical steps involved in moving, so it is a great place to start your research.

Wishing you all the best with your plans!

Hi Alessio27.

There was a thread from a couple of years back, opened by an expat.com member from Bolivia, with similars hopes as you. Here is the link to that thread, titled Moving to Da Nang and open a Brew Coffee Bar. There might be information in that thread which you'll find helpful.

Feel free to ask any additional questions you might have. I have only visited Da Nang. I realise you were hoping to hear from people who actually live there.
